Dr Sian Vaughan

sian vaughan

Dr Vaughan is an art historian by training whose research interests concern the interpretation and mediation of engagement with contemporary Art & Design through the modalities of public art, arts research and the archive. Recent work has questioned the conceptualisation and methodology of the archive in relation to creative practice, and prompted a wider consideration of doctoral student experience in Art & Design.

Dr Vaughan is currently Senior Research Fellow & Keeper of Archives at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design. As an art historian, she has previously worked teaching art and design history in Further and Higher Education.
