The Professional Development Network is hosted by the Faculty of the Arts, Design and Media at Birmingham City University to support emergent and early career researchers in their professional development. Researchers in the Faculty can keep up to date on our current initiatives, find out how to take part, and let others know about their progress. In the 2016/2017 academic year, the major project will be the newly formed ERLab, designed to support those new to research in developing a research career. As part of our initiatives, we will be running a range of courses and events, some of which will be open to those outside the university.
The Network also provides information about previous projects: the Knowledge Exchange in Design scheme, the Research Mentoring Initiative and the Ethics in Art, Design and Media research project. You can read about the projects, the associated research, and see some case studies. We also aim to share resources and other useful information to support professional development in the early stages of a research career.
We will post information regularly about research developments in the faculty, let you know about events and share information and resources that will be useful to you in your professional development. The website also acts as an online forum where you can share your experiences, particularly if you join one of our projects.
